The Fastest Way To Make A Booking Agent Contact

booking-agent-contactAre you sick and tired of booking your own shows and trying to do all the leg work yourself?

Most bands I speak with always say the same thing - “If only we had an agent and a manager, we could concentrate on the music and being a better band!”

While this holds true and there is without doubt some general disconnect between musicians and business, there are definitely clever ways and means to creating a booking agent contact and trying to get them to book your band properly.

First thing first though, you will never make any sort of booking agent contact unless you understand the following principles -

A Booking Agent Only Makes Money If You Can Sell Tickets

If we get down to the meat and potatoes of the booking agency business, their bottom line is driven by how many tickets they think your band is capable of selling.

Nothing more, nothing less

To create a great booking agent contact and win them over, you must be able to convince them without any doubt or reason, that your band is going to easily sell shows and are on some sort of upward trajectory path.

If you think about how much time and effort an agent goes through to book shows and tours, you must make sure that you can at least make it make financial sense for them otherwise you could be wasting your time hunting them down in the first place.

The Booking Agent Path Of Least Resistance

It is clearly known that most human beings would prefer to take the path of least resistance. Booking agents, managers, record companies and everyone else in this business are no different.

Unfortunately, the cold hard truth about making and nurturing a booking agent contact is that it’s really up to you or your band to do all the leg work and build your bands profile before they will step in.

Unless you’re a band that has singed a deal early and the label have arranged an agent for you or if there is a serious vibe around your band and the whole industry is swarming around your band like a herd of hungry bees, no agent will really give you the time of day - not because they are mean people but simply because you are not yet valuable enough to their operation

It’s up to you and your band to do as much of the ground work as possible to then let the agent feel like working with you is an absolute no brainer and that they’d be mad not to.

That mentality and perception takes hard work and dedication, however done properly you will be sure to build a solid booking agent contact that will eventually take over and work with you on building your live career.
