One of the most exciting things as an up and coming band is when you finally get that record label contract come through on the fax machine or via email. It’s like a freeze frame moment in time that you’d love to stay in forever. A true sense of achievement is felt.

It’s a known fact that all the greatest musicians and songwriters came from prolific music record labels. Atlantic, Electra, A&M, Chess Records, Colombia, Mowtown – they all became extremely successful in the music business for one very obvious reason.

Everyone has their take on major record labels. Some love them while others totally despise them. Some have their own personal experiences with them and others are constantly trying to figure out how to get signed by them.
